The State Bar of San Andreas is a regulatory agency responsible for overseeing the legal profession within the state. It sets standards for attorney admission, education, and ethics, and ensures compliance with these standards through licensing and disciplinary actions. The State Bar also provides resources and support for attorneys, promotes public access to legal services, and upholds the integrity and professionalism of the legal profession in San Andreas. The State Bar of San Andreas is overseen and governed by the Supreme Court of San Andreas.
Attorney-Client Privilege: All members must maintain confidentiality of all communications between themselves and their clients unless the client provides informed consent for disclosure, or the disclosure is otherwise legally permitted or required.
Competence and Diligence: Attorneys must possess the legal knowledge, skill, thoroughness, and preparation reasonably necessary for the representation of their clients. They are required to handle cases with diligence and to pursue matters on behalf of clients with the appropriate urgency and commitment.
Conflict of Interest: Attorneys are prohibited from representing clients in cases where there is a direct conflict of interest unless written informed consent is obtained from all affected parties. This includes situations where personal interests could interfere with professional judgment. If an attorney becomes aware of a conflict of interest or other ethical issue that would impair their ability to represent a client effectively, they must withdraw from representation in a manner that minimizes harm to the client.
Mandatory Reporting of Misconduct: Attorneys are required to report any known professional misconduct or ethical violations committed by other members of the Bar.
Prohibition on Unauthorized Practice of Law: Members must not assist or engage in the unauthorized practice of law, either within San Andreas or in any other jurisdiction where they are not licensed to practice.
Truthfulness & Integrity: Attorneys must be truthful when making statements to third parties, including courts, the public, clients, and opposing parties. They must not knowingly make false statements of material fact or law. Attorneys must avoid conduct that is solely intended to embarrass, delay, or burden a third party or that violates the legal rights of others.
Cooperation with Disciplinary Investigations: Attorneys are required to cooperate fully with any disciplinary investigations conducted by the State Bar, including providing documents, evidence, and testimony as requested.
Professional Conduct: Attorneys must conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner at all times in court, adhering to court rules and procedures, and ensuring that their behavior reflects the integrity of the legal profession.
